SANIDERM/SECOND SKIN BANDAGE

  1. When using Saniderm or a similar bandage, it should be left on for 3-5 days. During this time, it is normal to see fluid build up underneath the bandage. **If you experience leaking, please remove the bandage and follow the standard aftercare instructions below**

  2. Remove the bandage in the shower or under running water. Gently wash your tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild unscented soap to remove any remaining residue or fluids left from the bandage. Do not scrub or pick at the tattoo.

  3. Pat your tattoo dry with a paper towel and allow it to rest for a few minutes before applying a thin layer of an unscented, non-greasy lotion.

  4. Continue to keep your tattoo clean and lightly moisturized until the tattoo is fully healed. Do not pick, peel or scratch at your tattoo.

PLEASE NOTE: In some cases, it is possible to experience a reaction to the Saniderm adhesive. If you notice redness and/or irritation around the border of the bandage, please remove it immediately and follow the standard aftercare instructions below.

STANDARD BANDAGE

  1. If we did not use Saniderm, leave your standard bandage on for 2-3 hours at most. Wash your hands well with soap before touching the tattoo.

  2. Once the bandage is removed, gently clean your tattoo with a mild unscented soap to remove any residue. Do not scrub or pick at the tattoo.

  3. Rinse and pat your tattoo dry with a paper towel or allow to air dry.

  4. Wash your tattoo twice a day (morning and night) until it is completely healed. Regular showers are okay, but avoid submerging your tattoo - no baths or swimming.

  5. Over the next few days, sparingly moisturize your tattoo with unscented, non-greasy lotion 1-2 times a day. Do not over moisturize. Do not pick, peel or scratch your tattoo. If you experience itching, lightly pat your tattoo or leave it alone completely.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

  • DO NOT pick, peel or scratch your new tattoo.

  • DO NOT submerge your tattoo in water until fully healed. Avoid baths, swimming pools, the beach, etc.

  • DO NOT over-moisturize your tattoo. A thin layer of lotion will suffice.

  • DO NOT allow anyone touch your new tattoo while it is healing.

  • DO NOT expose your new tattoo to direct sunlight, including tanning beds. Sunscreen may be applied once the tattoo is fully healed.

  • It is recommended to wear loose, comfortable clothing during the healing stage to avoid friction and allow the tattoo to breathe.

  • While it generally takes approx. 4-6 weeks for a tattoo to fully heal, it can take up to around 6 months to settle into the skin.

**Please seek medical attention immediately if you begin to develop any symptoms of infection**

TOUCH-UP POLICY

Touch-ups are free for the first year. I only book touch up appointments on Wednesdays & Thursdays. If you wait over a year to contact me or the touch up is due to neglecting aftercare instructions (soaking the tattoo while healing, scratching/picking at the tattoo, etc.) regular minimum rates will apply to your touch up appointment.
